The casinos will be able to reopen under stringent regulations which will see them operate at 30% and only allow slot machines
The meeting was headed by the Chief of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Province, Carlos Bianco, with businessmen, trade unions from the gaming sector and the heads of the Provincial Institute of Lotteries and Casinos – Omar Galdurralde and Maria Laura Garcia, all in attendance.
In a press release issued by the Lottery of the City of Buenos Aires it was stated that:
“This measure is the third stage of gradual openings of the game in Buenos Aires since in May the opening of the betting agencies had been authorized and in August, the equestrian activities.”
In addition to these protocols, casinos and gambling venues may only operate at 30% capacity and must be vacated every two hours for the venue to sanitised. Players will also have to present documents proving that they have tested negative from the virus.
However, the General Secretary of the Mar del Plata Casinos Maestranza Union, Roberto Paez, said the gaming sector was still waiting for clear and concise guidelines, after 9 months of closure;
“The truth is that we don’t clearly know how the activity will be developed or how the schedules and the employees will be affected, but we’re sure that we will know all the specifications eventually,”
Lastly, all workers at the casino will need to wear protective masks at all times while food and beverages will be barred from the rooms.
