Danske Spil becomes majority shareholder of CEGO

The national Danish lottery and gaming operator Danske Spil has just signed an agreement that sees the company becoming majority shareholder of games developer company CEGO, netting 60% of the total shares.

CEGO’s owners will keep on carrying out the day-to-day operation of the company from its Aalborg main offices, situated in an industrial and university area in the North of Jutland, Denmark.

The acquisition forms part of Danske Spil’s strategy to firther strengthen its positioning in the Danish online gambling sector. In a follow-up statement, the company said, “With the acquisition of shares in CEGO, it will allow Danske Spil to consolidate and strengthen its market position in the increasingly popular Danish casino market.” The company added, “CEGO gives Danske Spil the opportunity to have access to unique and powerful game development capabilities in a market with high demands… and development.”
