Five months of casino shut down has strongly affected the sector and brought about economic crisis

The casino sector in Dominican Republic has been closed for almost 5 months, and according to the president of the Association, David Moniz, the time inoperative was used to develop a full protocol which encompasses a list of measurements to ensure no contamination of COVID-19 in the casinos premises.

Casinos aseguran Estado deja de percibir RD$60 millones mientras ...We will show that, in the time of shut down, we prepared protocols that we have been improved day by day and include even the smallest detail. We have conditioned our premises to adapt to the best and most innovative safety and hygiene measures that guarantee Free Covid in any of our establishments”, said Moniz to Yogonet Gaming News.

The Casino sector plays an important role in the country’s economy, generating a huge amount of jobs and significant amount in revenue for public coffers, however, almost five months of shut down has strongly affected the sector and the economic crisis.

The sector believes it is time to return the activities and contribute with the country’s economic recovery. According to Moniz, the 56 casinos operating in Dominican Republic contribute to more than 25,000 families and generate 70 million pesos per month to public coffers, besides a significant contribution to the Tourism’s sector with over 200 million in revenue each month.

The President of the Association also explained that the sector has complied with all rules proposed by Dominican Republic and they will collaborate with the national government in all aspects necessary as well as contribute to the economic and social recovery.

“We thank the new authorities for their support in this new stage of our sector, and at the same time we offer all our support and collaboration to recover from the crisis. Together, the public sector, the private sector and the Dominican people, we will overcome this and other crises,” declared Moniz to Yogonet Gaming News.
