DraftKings Sportsbook transforms management structure in PASPA preparations
DraftKings Sportsbook has added Johnny Avello to its already impressive management team. Based in the Nevada office, Avello was appointed as the director of its sports betting team.
Avello’s initial role at DraftKings will include managing retail sportsbook trading and risk management. Avello is expected to help the company transform its land-based sports betting operations.
DraftKings is going from strength to strength following the eradication of PASPA. Avello's welcome comes shortly after DraftKings announced a milestone merger with Australian developer iSport Genius to deploy data insights across their sportsbook platform for the U.S. betting market.
Prior to the new venture, Avello was acting as the executive director post at Wynn Resorts for more than a decade. Avello, an industry veteran with close to half a century of experience in the betting industry, will oversee the retail sportsbook trading and risk management.
Matt Kalish, co-founder of DraftKings and the company’s chief revenue officer commented, “Johnny is considered a legend in Las Vegas. He is very respected in the gaming industry and brings well over 30 years of experience, insights and ideas to DraftKings.”
Kalish concluded, “We’re committed to building a world-class sports betting operation by putting together amazing talent with diverse experiences and backgrounds, and Johnny’s arrival brings us one step closer to that goal.”
Launched in 2012 with headquarters in Boston, DraftKings enables customers to compete in single-day, online fantasy sports contests across the largest variety of professional sports.
