Holland Casino is allowed to reopen their land-based venues

The Netherlands' state-owned casino operator Holland Casino has been given the go ahead to reopen the doors of its 14 branches after being closed for two weeks

The venues closed for the second time this year on 4 November, following an increase in the number of cases of the novel coronavirus (Covid-19).

A spokesperson of Holland Casino said: “The cabinet announced this on Tuesday evening November 17. From Thursday, November 19, guests can be received again for safe and responsible play. All strict measures that applied at the time of closure will apply again. All restaurants and bars will remain closed, as will all catering establishments in the Netherlands. Due to current government measures, we have made some adjustments concerning a visit to one of our casinos. Your visit will still look familiar but at the same time different. Holland Casino is open daily until 01.00 hours.

The spokesperson added: “Wearing a face mask is mandatory when moving through our establishment. As soon as you have taken your seat, you can take off your face mask if you wish. We ask you to bring your own face mask. Our establishments are divided into several gaming rooms which can accommodate up to 30 guests at the same time. Upon entering, we ask you to choose a playroom. Because of the new measures it is temporarily only possible to visit us with a reservation and a Favorites Card.”

curfew was introduced in September, forcing casinos and gaming halls to close by 1 am in many regions.

Holland Casinos’ turnover for the first half fell by 58.7% year-on-year to €146.3m.
