Malta investing in cutting edge innovative schemes

Since independence in 1964, Malta has developed its economy in an impressive way. Leveraging its well-educated labour force, good governance standards and strategic geographic position, the country has been very successful in recent years in diversifying its production and export structure towards higher value-added sectors and creating a strong knowledge based economy  Testimony to this, the island is home to hundreds of foreign companies all operating within a well-developed economic and industrial structure. The Igaming industry one of the many industries employing  and  attracting huge numbers to the island as can be noted by the largest Igaming events taking place this November with SIGMA and MiGS. Malta is a well-connected investment location boasting an advanced communications setup and a business environment which gives every incentive for companies to invest, grow, innovate and compete in a global marketplace.

During a press conference held at Malta Enteprise office last week, Dr Chris Cardona announced a new scheme, Business Start (B.Start), aimed at assisting new start ups on the Island.  Through this scheme, Malta Enterprise will be offering a seed funding for start-ups up to a maximum grant of €25,000.

The measure is intended to support small start-up undertakings that have a viable business concept and are in the early stage of its development.

An initial installment of €10,000 shall be paid once the project is approved.

Subsequent installments shall be paid quarterly after the Corporation reviews and endorses that the progress achieved is in line with the business plan as approved or as adjusted to adapt to market requirement.
