SiGMA met Carl Månsson from for an interview and asked a few questions about his business and thoughts about the industry.

Meet Carl Mansson from MrBonus.seHello Carl, how are you? Are you ready for the Affiliate Grand Slam 2017 or SiGMA17?

Hi Marius! Yea really excited about it! Its good to see that each year these events are getting bigger and better!

With the recent wave of consolidation, mergers and acquisitions of affiliate sites, are you surprised at all of the changes happening in the industry?

Not really, feels natural that some giants want to compete in the big league and pay smaller affiliates for their efforts and successful achievements.

Developing unique content is a key pillar of your strategy. What will be your primary focus on this front over the next 6 months?

We are definitely moving towards a more content oriented strategy. Its obvious that google has and will continue to boost sites that are truly taken cared of by webmasters.

How do you find Scandinavian & UK markets and competition?

We are mainly focused on the Scandinavian market so far. We do believe that any good webmaster can succeed even though there is tough competition. Some words are harder some are easier but none is impossible.

How have Google’s algorithm updates affected the way you go about traffic generation, SEO and content at your company?

As it is hard to know exactly what happens in the algorithm i cannot say for sure. I usually make a site and see what response it gets in the SERP without huge effort. Then if a site goes well with little to none effort obviously that site will become something we will start invest in.

Are there any exciting plans in the works that you can tell us about?

We have tried many different strategies for different sites and right now Freespinslista is one of the sites I have seen some success with. Searches for free bonuses in Sweden are increasing with the increasing number of players which is a good way to get a lot of players sent with new casinos. As new casinos are generation many more registrations than the more established casinos for free bonuses this can be good as more players might actually be from a better segment than general bonus hunters.

Another site we have big plans for is This is a site that will focus on some focused keywords. We are very excited to see what we can do with it as we are simply following Googles directives. Here players will be able to be fully socially integrated in the website which we also see as something that is getting more important.

What challenges and opportunities has the move to mobile presented you with?

We are very excited about the traffic movement to mobile. It has been going on for quite a while but numbers are increasing by the month. Feels like another factor that us affiliates must compete with as usual.

AMP and other stuff that can be done to improve the mobile presence in the SERPs is something that we have also started to dig into. I think the mobile search results will be sure to look a bit different in the end of 2017.

What do you see as the biggest challenges ahead for your business and the wider affiliate sector in 2017?

From our part of course regulations of the Swedish market will be some exciting news to hear about and we are hoping for a liberal decision! Of course the ever lasting challenge is to get up in those SERPs and try to think logical in order to keep up with the algorithm. I am certain that trying to manipulate too much is getting much more risky than beneficial.

What two pieces of advice would you give to any new affiliate starting today?

That you have every chance of making it to compete in words with search volume. Be friendly and talk with your fellow small affiliate buddies (be sure to get some of those first). All affiliates has something to gain from talking about strategies. Connections in this business is key and if you are new you are welcome to contact me for a chat!
