The team behind MatchPlus talks to SiGMA about transforming the fundraising in sports
MatchPlus is modernising event based lotteries in the UK. The London-based technology company aims to transform the charitable fundraising in sports by offering a state of the art digital and retail lottery platform, and offering a new aspect to the matchday fan experience — as well as becoming part of the experience for supporters around the country who can participate online. MatchPlus is one of the startup companies taking part in the upcoming SiGMA Startup Pitch.
What is your company’s unique differentiating idea?
MatchPlus is a tech company, offering a lottery fundraising platform for the charities of UK sports clubs. They are expanding on a successful North American model that has raised more than $2,000,000 annually for some charities in its offline, purely stadium based form.
What differentiates you from your competitors? Specifically, what do you provide that is currently not available in the market or how do you differ from your competitors?
We are the only ELM managing the complete life cycle of the lottery product. We tap into the largest fan bases in the world and provide a homogeneous product that any brand with engaged users can utilise to raise money for their charitable foundation. We cover marketing, technology, in stadium and online distribution channels at zero cost to the clubs and their charities in exchange for access to their stadiums and fan bases. We also have a pipeline including some of the biggest names in UK football.
What milestones or tangible traction have you achieved to date?
Operating at Brentford FC in January 2017, going live with Everton FC, Chelsea FC, QPR in August this year.
Please explain your objectives for participating in SIGMA Pitch Event.
Our objective is to find a strategic investor in the online gaming space.
