Sands Cotai Central transforms into the Londoner Macao

Sands China President, Dr Wilfred Wong, announced the US$2 billion transformation of Sands Cotai Central into Londoner Macao, is expected to open in February 2021, in congruence with the spike in visitor arrivals to Macao. 

Dr Wong, spoke to the media on Wednesday, and declared the first phase of the integrated resort at the centre of Cotai Strip, are now complete, with only the exterior wall and entrance still under construction. 

“The Londoner Macao is planned to open in early February in next year,” he said.  

“In the re-construction and transformation of Londoner Macao, we added a concert hall and various dining venues, and have always headed in the direction of diversification and non-gaming elements,” Dr Wong expressed. 

The main façade of the US$2 billion transformation of Sands Cotai into The Londoner Macao will recreate the wilfred wongarchitecture of the Houses of Parliament, including a replica of the Big Ben clock. Dr. Wong thinks that gaming revenue will continue to increase while hotel occupancy rates should surpass 40% in December.  

The property will feature four world-class hotels - The Londoner Hotel, Conrad Maca, Sheraton Grand Macao Hotel and The St. Regis Macao - with over 6,000 hotel rooms to choose from. The Conrad Macao and Sheraton Grand Macao are the world’s largest hotels in their brands respectively.  

It will also feature a new 6,000-seat arena, rebranded Shoppes at The Londoner retail mall, street shows, a VR experience plus a new Dongbei and Sichuan cuisine restaurant, a Thai restaurant, a British styled restaurant named Churchill’s Table and a gastropub by celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay.
