SiGMA Interviews the Cashcow Team

SiGMA catches up with the Cashcow Ltd team: Kirmo Kolehmainen, Antti Alatalo and Mika Kujapelto

How did you three come together and decided to start your company?

Mika and Antti were former colleagues and had been working together for some time. Kirmo and Antti met each other in a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu gym, where Antti teaches classes.

One night over beers Antti and Kirmo talked about casino affiliate business, and how saturated the market is. Both agreed that there is a lot that could be done differently and wanted to give it a go. They introduced the idea to Mika, who got excited about the idea as well. Timing was perfect as Antti was currently freelancing and looking for new projects, Mika had recently quit his job and Kirmo wasn’t too happy working as an alone affiliate.

That is how Cashcow Ltd was born and shortly after our first site,, was launched.

Can you tell us a little about how your company business is structured?

Right now it is us three working full time plus a bunch of freelancers. We are sharing the office with our good friends from Matching Visions, with whom we also have a common project

Which markets do you focus on and do you see any potential in the emerging markets?

Finland is our strongest market and where we have our main focus, but we’re also working on English and German speaking markets. At the moment this keeps us busy and we haven’t looked into other markets.

Are there any exciting plans in the works that you can tell us about?

Right now, the most exciting thing see how the English and German markets will pick up, but we also have some interesting and unique content plans in the works.

A number of your competitors have gone down the real money operator route, and tried their hand at white labels. Have you also done this?

Being able to succeed as an operator now days is extremely difficult, and we believe we are able to benefit from our knowledge and experience via affiliation, so right now that is not something we are looking getting into. Maybe we might think about again after we have taken over couple markets as an affiliate.

How do you find Scandinavian market and competition?

Our main experience is obviously from Finland, but the Swedish market seems to be the most competitive one. Possibly in the future we will look into expanding to other Scandinavian countries as well.

What is the main thing that you’d like SiGMA readers to know about your site?

Our goal is to provide a great user experience and build a brand that separates from the rest. Site is fast to use and it doesn’t take much time to find the casino where to play. Instead of shooting links from left and right, we are putting tremendous amount resources to research and produce high quality content in multiple different verticals.

50% of our users are returning users and our organic traffic has grown over 200% past two months.

What challenges and opportunities has the move to mobile presented you with?

Challenge is that it takes more time to create a great user experience for both, mobile and desktop. However, a lot of people aren’t yet making the extra effort. Apart from being just mobile friendly, we want to create the feeling of using an app instead of just being website. Almost half of our traffic is coming from mobile, so it’s important to capitalize this traffic.

What two pieces of advice would you give to any new affiliate starting today?

Make your site memorable. Invest in high quality content and don’t overlook branding. When it comes to making deals with casinos, don’t make deals with every possible operator. There are some shady operators and you might come across issues with payments and other things. Avoiding this pitfall saves both time and money.

Are you ready for SiGMA17?

We are really excited and ready for SiGMA! This is a perfect opportunity to strengthen our current relationships and show our site & results for new operators.

Relive the highlights from our last show and stay tuned for this year’s SiGMA. Watch out for what we’re branding as the ‘iGaming Village’ this year.
Are you an operator looking for top affiliates? Are you a top affiliate looking for a nice treat with like-minded affiliates playing at the same level?
