SiGMA speaks with Haris Cejvan

Haris Cejvan, CMO at Novitana Ltd. speaks with SiGMA about the relaunch of casivo.co.uk

The UK Gambling Commission recently announced new plans to regulate advertising done by online casino operators – making it fairer and safer. How will this affect your business as affiliates and how will it change the UK market?

I believe that more transparent terms and conditions are good for the industry in general and welcomed by all serious affiliates and operators. However, we lack consistency in the guidelines that have recently been carried out. We, together with several other affiliates and operators would like for more of a dialogue from the UKGC rather than one-way communication.

You’ve just re-launched your site casivo.co.uk, how does it differ from your old site, what can players expect to see?

The purpose with Casivo.co.uk has always been to guide players to casinos of their choice. The new design’s main goal is to better serve visitors using mobile devices. In practice, this is done by keeping relevant information easy to access and ensuring faster loading times for mobile while also having a more appealing interface and design.

Do you have any plans to expand; do you have your eye on any emerging markets?

Our ambition is to be present in the markets where we see a high level of mobile penetration and where we can grow together with our closest partners. At the moment, we have no plans to create more Casivo’s. Instead, the focus for new markets will be put on our site Casinorella.com

What qualities make for a good casino or betting site? What goes into the recommendation process?

I’m a firm believer that you never should waste your visitors’ time. Simply put, cut the bullshit and stay relevant. Also, understand that your site is a reflection of what partners you choose to work together with. Choose your partners wisely and dare to invest in your relationships.

What are the biggest challenges ahead for Casivo?

As mentioned, we’d like to see a more open dialogue with the UKGC where a more harmonized approached when it comes to compliance is the preference. Sudden changes and multiple exceptions make it challenging to plan long-term – the same goes for other regulated markets.

The Smartphone user-base will likely reach 6 billion by 2020. Your sites are currently built on a mobile-first approach – is mobile only something you would consider?

It is true that we have been very mobile in our approach when developing the site – we currently have a Casivo App available in the UK Appstore. Mobile is clearly important, but we find it important not to forget our desktop users. To be honest, I don’t understand why people put so much effort into distinguishing strategies between mobile or not mobile. For us it is easy, we want Casivo to be relevant for all devices.

Anything exciting planned that you’d like to share with us?

Casivo has been live for ten months now, and we are proud of what we have achieved. The Casivo’s are our proof of concept where we now are looking forward to growing as an organization while expanding into more markets.

Are you ready for SiGMA18 and Affiliate Grand Slam? What are you most looking forward to?

SiGMA was a real blast last year, and I’m not only talking for myself when I say that people were really impressed. Now I’m really looking forward to the Affiliate Grand Slam as it is one of those moments where you get the time to get to know people in an atmosphere that is more calm and relaxed.

You describe yourself on your website as a casino enthusiast, do you have a favourite game?

That’s a typo. I don’t really like games, I like the players. Especially the depositing ones.
